With the majority of votes counted, I have called Don Horsley and congratulated him on his victory in the District 3 supervisor race.
There are three things I am very proud of in our campaign.
I am proud of the incredible job our volunteers did in canvassing 222 precincts. I don't know of any campaign in San Mateo County that has walked so far to meet as many voters as possible.
I am proud that we were able to mount a progressive challenge against the status quo, especially on vital issues like Cargill's City in the Bay, high speed rail, district elections and the dysfunction in San Mateo County government. But this was the most expensive Supervisor's race in San Mateo County history. The $400,000 my opponent spent is a demonstration of the power structure in our county. I am proud to have been the standard bearer for so many people who wanted to set a new course.
Last, I am so thankful for 60,000 people honoring me with their vote and support.
Thank You!
